The Wuxi Symphony Orchestra will stage a concert titled Sorrow and Sadness at the Wuxi Grand Theatre (Opera Hall) on April 12, featuring Japanese conductor Kosuke Tsunoda and Chinese pianist Yin Zhi in a profound exploration of emotional depth and artistic timelessness through music.
The concert promises a dialogue between Russian romanticism and French impressionism. The program includes Maurice Ravel's Valses nobles et sentimentales (1911/12) and his Piano Concerto in G Major (1929/31). The performance culminates with Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74 (1893), a monumental work embodying lyrical tragedy and emotional intensity.
Kosuke Tsunoda, a leading figure among young Japanese conductors, is renowned for his precision, nuanced interpretations of modern works, and cross-cultural musical vision. This marks his debut collaboration with the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra, where he will guide the ensemble in bridging classical traditions with contemporary expressions.
