Erhu

Wuxi is known as the capital of erhu (a two-stringed Chinese fiddle) in China. As a representative of Jiangnan sizhu music and Chinese folk musical instruments, erhu has always uniquely appealed to this Chinese folk musical instrument.

In the late 19th century and early 20th century, many erhu masters appeared in Wuxi. They have made innovative modifications to the instrument and explored different performance styles and techniques, propelling this distinctive Chinese instrument into the global spotlight.
