Cold Wind in Early Spring is an erhu solo composed by Hua Yanjun (1893-1950), who is more commonly known as Ah Bing, a blind folk musician from Wuxi, Jiangsu province.
Through gentle yet melancholic melodies, this piece skillfully mimics the chilly winds in early spring, symbolizing the mournful laments and yearnings for happiness of the oppressed, while deeply reflecting the composer's lifelong struggles against adversity and his longing for a better life.
